Guatemalans Tell Pelosi And "The Squad" To Take A Hike!
Over 500 Guatemalan protestors marched through the Avenida la Reforma in Guatemala City Thursday to protest against a Congressional Delegation led by U.S. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. The delegation also includes the far left group self titled "The Squad" which consists of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), and Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA).
The delegation is scheduled to arrive in the country on August 8, which happens to be three days before the nation’s second round of elections.
The protesters are demanding sovereignty for Guatemala and raising their voices against U.S. intervention in their countries policies. They are seen holding signs that read, “We will send you back” and “DemocRATS not welcome, this is NOT your country!”
There are two groups that organized the event, Mujeres Conservadoras Guatemala, and Guatemala Inmortal It is pretty clear when reading a twitter post by Mujeres Conservadoras Guatemala that Nancy Pelosi is not welcome in their country and should “stay away from Guatemala!” it also says that Guatemalans “don’t want anyone with a globalist agenda in our country.”
In another Tweet by Guatemala Inmortal specifically written to President Trump, the protestors make their feelings loud and clear. “We do NOT want any democRATs, THEY are the ones sabotaging your plans with the far left in our country!”
It is very true that a picture is worth a thousand words.
Including another banner that is a nod to Donald Trumps show The Apprentice. Its pretty clear I think that they want the current U.S. Ambassador Luis Edmundo Arreaga-Rodas OUT!
The protests against the Democrat delegation come a week or so after President Donald Trump was successful in negotiating a Third Safe Country Agreement with Guatemala that stipulates that Guatemalans who seek asylum in the U.S. must do so in the first safe country they arrive in. This means that they cannot simply pass through Mexico and into the U.S. in order to seek asylum.
